Glossary
Plain-language definitions of the invoicing, POS, inventory, and tax terms used across EVRST Invoice.
- Offline-first
- Software that runs fully on your own computer without an internet connection. Your business data is stored and processed locally, not on a remote server.
- Lifetime license
- A one-time purchase that lets you use the software permanently, with no subscription or recurring fees.
- Point of Sale (POS)
- The checkout system used to ring up and complete sales at the counter, handling payments, receipts, and returns.
- VAT margin scheme
- A tax method where VAT is charged only on your profit margin for second-hand goods, rather than on the full selling price.
- GST (Goods and Services Tax)
- The indirect tax applied to sales in India. EVRST Invoice produces GST-ready reports.
- Main Server and cashier tills
- One Main Server PC holds the shared database; additional cashier tills connect to it over your local network (LAN). One license covers the Main Server plus up to five tills.
- Moving weighted-average cost
- An inventory costing method that recalculates the average cost of a product each time you buy more stock, so margins stay accurate.
- Merchant of record
- The company that legally sells the product and handles payment and tax on the seller's behalf. For EVRST Invoice, Polar is the merchant of record.
- Serialized inventory
- Tracking each unit of stock individually by a unique identifier such as IMEI, serial number, VIN, or chassis number.
- Service ticket (job card)
- A work order that tracks a repair or service job from drop-off to pickup, recording the device, fault, technician, and status.
